How We Research Articles
Depending on the topic, we may consult several types of reliable sources, including:
- Manufacturer documentation — official owner’s manuals, care guides, safety instructions, product documentation, and recall information.
- Government and public safety sources — relevant information from agencies and organizations such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), and other appropriate authorities.
- Industry and standards information — relevant guidance from recognized industry organizations and standards bodies when appropriate.
- Established consumer and home-care resources — reputable publications and reference sources may be consulted when they provide useful supporting information.
Sources are selected according to the subject of each article. We do not claim that every source listed above is consulted for every article.
Our Writing Process
- Identify the household problem or question the article is intended to address.
- Review relevant manufacturer instructions, safety guidance, and other reliable sources.
- Organize the information into practical steps that are understandable to everyday homeowners.
- Review factual claims, safety considerations, and important limitations before publication.
- Add relevant internal links and disclose affiliate relationships when applicable.
- Review and update the article when important information changes.
First-Hand and Research-Based Content
Clever Nest Lab distinguishes between first-hand experience and research-based information.
When the author has personally performed a cleaning or maintenance method, the article may describe that experience as first-hand.
When information is compiled from manufacturer documentation, government guidance, reputable references, or other research, it is presented as research-based information rather than personal testing.
We do not claim to have personally tested a product, appliance, or procedure when we have not done so.
Corrections
If you believe an article contains an error or outdated information, please contact us at clevernestlab@gmail.com.
We review credible correction requests and update published information when a factual error or significant change is confirmed.
Updates
Articles may be reviewed and updated when manufacturer guidance, safety information, product information, or other important information changes.
The “Last updated” date on an article indicates when the article was most recently reviewed or materially updated.
